‘Prove Me Right’ might be just her second-ever track, but Scotland’s Alex Amor has already begun to build a worthy hype around her debut EP, Love Language. Balanced production allows for lo-fi guitars to wobble against jazzy drum and bass, while leaving enough room for her gift for vocal melody to take centre stage. Amor makes it clear that her powerful lyrics are conversational for a reason: “I am speaking directly to people from the heart. There’s an overarching theme of positivity in my music, the idea that it’s okay if things aren’t okay but there’s always hope that things will get better”. With unexpected synth flourishes and subtle, grungy guitars filling out the texture, 'Prove Me Right’ is an exciting guide towards things to come from this newcomer. -Dan Peeke
